Corporate News

The company also continues its commitment to MeliáPRO, its B2B platform created for business travellers, which rewards its customers before, during and after their stay

Business trips booked through MeliáPRO have increased by 22% so far this year, already surpassing the results obtained in 2019 by 30%

Meliá PRO, the B2B platform of Meliá Hotels International, continues its commitment to the business traveller by consolidating Business Travaller: Benefits & Rewards, a programme specially designed for these travellers that is tailored to their needs and offers them the best experience during their stay at the company's hotels.

In recent years, the tourism industry has seen a clear upward trend in MICE tourism, with sectoral data forecasting a year-end that will exceed pre-pandemic levels. Among the different types of tourism that MICE bring together, the increase in corporate travel stands out, whose value for travellers and their companies has been demonstrated, as well as presenting itself as an opportunity for destinations. According to the latest report by the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA), global spending on business travel will exceed 1.3 billion euros by 2024.

In the case of Meliá Hotels International, its commitment to the corporate travel segment is clear, with more than 476,000 companies already registered in its Business Traveler: Benefits & Rewards programme. Moreover, to date this year, the hotel company has achieved a 22% growth in corporate sales through MeliáPRO, with a 4% increase in the number of overnight stays compared to last year. Also noteworthy is the group of SMEs, which now account for more than half of the overnight stays of the corporate segment in Meliá hotels. As for the destinations with the highest volume of business travellers, according to the company's data, Madrid, Sao Paulo, London, Barcelona and Dusseldorf stand out in particular.

The hotel company also estimates that business travel bookings at its hotels will continue a positive growth trend over the coming months of 2024. As Francisca Mérida, Corporate Senior Director of Sales at Meliá Hotels International, explains, 'We see an upward trend in all destinations. Despite the establishment of virtual meetings as a business staple, face-to-face interactions are still essential. Therefore, companies are investing in maintaining the relationship with their clients, understanding the importance of face-to-face meetings and attending trade fairs, as well as investing in the development of their employees' talent with trips to attend seminars, courses and congresses'. On the other hand, she adds that 'another important point is the evolution of executive profiles, with an increase of Millenials and Generation Z in leadership positions. These profiles especially value experiential learning and networking, increasing the demand for business travel'.

Meliá continues to focus on this segment and to evolve the experience offered to this type of traveller. To this end, it has reinforced the Business Traveller: Benefits & Rewards programme, which offers exclusive rates and benefits adapted to business travellers, which will enhance their experience throughout the customer journey under the philosophy that every trip counts.

In this line, the hotel has launched a campaign to highlight the main benefit of the programme: being able to earn points to enjoy on personal trips. Under the slogan 'Are you more of a pool or beach person?' Meliá is calling on travellers to use the points earned on business trips to enjoy its wide range of hotels around the world.

Business Traveller: Benefits & Rewards is available to Meliá PRO corporate users, using their negotiated corporate rate or by registering at meliapro.com. Business travellers can make their reservations through melia.com, the Meliá APP, the Call & Service Center or their usual travel agency. In addition, this programme also has all the benefits inherent to MeliáRewards, such as advantages, upgrades and exclusive discounts, as well as the possibility of using the points at Meliá's own restaurants and spas, or on shopping.
